In the handover of 2021, pop star Madonna purchased a mansion in Los Angeles’ Hidden Hills from none other than fellow industry giant The Weeknd. The Weeknd first bought the lavish home four years ago.
It seems now that Madonna has bargained the estate down to a tidy sum of USD $19.3 million, which is a fair price, perhaps, for a house containing a total of 9 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms.
Now, Madonna is parting ways with the mansion just under a year after purchasing it and has listed it for a cool $7 million more than she purchased it for, a total of USD $25.995 million. She has made some interior improvements to the space since owning it and, fittingly for the Material Girl icon, has also added a gym and dance and pilates studio to a barn on the property.
The Blinding Lights singer originally listed the mansion, which has a climate-controlled glass wine cellar, a theater room and a five-car garage, for $25m in 2020. But after 10 months on the market, Madonna snapped it up for almost $6m less. The Weeknd has since moved to a $70m property in Bel Air.
Inside the estate
The house is located in the star-studded Hidden Hills neighborhood and also comes with a guest cottage. Both structures combined house nine bedrooms, nine bathrooms and two half-baths. The two-level main house boasts a minimalistic design dressed in white, with high ceilings and wide-plank wooden floors; the open-air design helps the space to feel large and airy.
Past the adjoining family room with a marble-framed fireplace lie a formal dining area, a neon-lit wine cellar, an office, and a screening room. All seven bedrooms are located on the second floor, including the master suite which has a huge walk-in closet and private terrace. It even has its own luxe marble-lined bathroom with a separate tub and shower, naturally. The property is located on 1.2 hectares (3 acres) of land accessible via a guarded gate and includes a barn, a gym, and a dance studio.
The home also features a saltwater pool, a basketball court, a 10-person spa, an indoor-outdoor bar, a formal dining room with a fireplace, a wine cellar, a five-car auto gallery, a home theater and a two-bedroom, two-bathroom guest house with a full kitchen.
All seven of the main residence’s bedrooms have ensuite baths. The foyer has a two-story wall of windows while the “stunning compound” is accessed via an “olive-tree lined drive & storybook bridge.”
The grounds are located on a “sun-drenched hillside” brimming with redwood trees in the gated Hidden Hills community, which, Wright mentions, is known for its many currents and former famous residents.
The gated Hidden Hills community is a favourite neighborhood for some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including the Kardashians. The Canadian hip-hop star Drake recently sold a pair of houses in the area to Matthew Stafford, the quarterback of the LA Rams NFL football team, for $11m.
