Camila Cabello – a name that has become quite prominent in the music industry as of late.
Cabello rose to fame as a member of the girl band Fifth Harmony before breaking out as a solo artist in 2016 with her No.1 single Havana. Since then, the Cuban-American singer and songwriter has released many singles that have made it amongst the Billboard top ten list, including hits such as Bad Things featuring Machine Gun Kelly, Crying in the Club, OMG featuring Quavo, and Never Be the Same.
Getting Candid With It
Camila has always been open about her mental health and her struggles through many sources like Instagram, TikTok, and, more prominently, her songs. She reveals that the time when she was writing Million to One for her Amazon Prime musical movie Cinderella, she was undergoing a lot of anxiety and sadness.
To give the rawest performance, Cabello conducted a fraction of her own journey into her act like a princess. She admitted that she was in a very bad place mentally while writing the songs for the movie.
In an interview with Anderson. Paak, Kid Cudi, and the Sparks Brother for the songwriters’ roundtable of The Hollywood Reporter revealed how she thinks that she can never write anything in a completely impersonal way to her.
Camila says that that time had brought her a lot of sadness and anxiety but the song Million to One was telling her that she can make her life better and that what she’s going through isn’t something she can’t overcome.
She also thinks that she has used her journey to try to portray the character’s journey better, explaining how in the movie, Cinderella is a confident woman and someone with a lot of optimism.
The singer talked about the anxiety and stress she had to deal with while filming the movie as well. And about how at least once a day, she would break down and cry. The time before the pandemic was particularly hard for the singer.
Considering the fact that she has literally been working ever since she was 15, it is no surprise that she felt burnt out. She said having no time for herself and barely being home was extremely hard as she didn’t even know who she was anymore.
Undoubtedly, there’s light at the end of every tunnel – we hope Cabello has found her light.
