The Worst Timeout
This image wouldn’t have alarmed anyone back in the ’30s. It was very common for mothers, babysitters, and caretakers to simply put the child in a box while they were going around the house. It could be a punishment sometimes, but it was mostly a way to get things done without interruptions.
This might be paramount to child abuse in our current world, but it was the norm back then. Interesting to see how things can change so much. It has to be said that the wooded box doesn’t look like the safest option, the child could break it and get splinters on their hands really easily.
